HE Reader sculpture
T has returned to the
Langmoor Gardens and is back
in its rightful place on one of
the public benches.
The much-loved sculpture of a
wire figure reading a book was
taken away after being
repeatedly vandalised.
Lyme Regis town councillors
agreed that as it was so
popular, they would
commission artist Vik
Westaway to make a new, more
durable one to withstand the
elements and any untoward
behaviour.
Vik was joined by the mayor,
Cllr Philip Evans, to unveil the
brand-new sculpture,
which forms part of the
Sculpture Trail in the
Langmoor and Lister Gardens.
Vik said she hoped people
would take the opportunity to
sit and reflect, have a chat to
Reader, enjoy the company, get
lost in their own book, or
capture a photo memory.
